Concordia’s
Community Outreach Program
For the past 15 years Concordia has sponsored a special Community outreach
program. This project consists
of search for families in need in our area.
After visiting with them we access the needs of each family and
include them with the existing families we help.
Frank and Juanita Singh are the directors of this program.
We begin the year by providing Easter baskets for each family consisting of
enough provisions for the week their children will be home on Easter break.

During the Fall, each child attending school is provided with enough money
to buy a new outfit with which to start school.
Christmas time, we have a Star Tree in our narthex, containing the names of
each member of the families we help.
Each star has information about each person.
Members of our congregation choose a star and purchase the items
requested. After the items are
purchased, we hold a gift-wrapping evening so each gift is hand-wrapped and
ready for delivery. In addition,
we provide food gift certificates for the Holiday season.

Toiletries Bags for the Homeless
This program, headed by Mary Johnson, concentrates on providing necessary
items for those who are either homeless and living on the street, or in
shelters. Mary sews cloth bags
with a suggested list of items to purchase.
Members of our congregation take the bags and fill them the suggested
items and return them to the Church.
Mary then distributes them to Open Gate Ministries in Dinuba and the
Fresno Rescue Mission. This
program runs between October and early December.
In addition, various styles of quilts and blankets are sewn for distribution
to Lutheran World Relief and local organizations.
